Brave enough?

If you are brave enough and have the guts to photograph your boudoir session outside, you will be rewarded with some of the most beautiful images. I’m talking images that’ll take your breath away. Of course living in the country, as I do, provides for some remote middle-of-nowhere locations, so that helps too.

This gorgeous girl asked that I not reveal her face in her images. The images were simply too beautiful to not share at all so a little photo-shopped banner came in handy to maintain her anonymity.

Before and after

I know. You don’t have to tell me. I stink at updating this site with the latest hotties who come through my door but I am going to try and do better. Honest!

In the meantime, I want to show you yet another before and after transformation from the magic of Carrie Purser, the makeup and hair artist Utah Boudoir Photography refers clients to. Carrie is not just a cosmetologist with a makeup kit, gals. She’s the real deal. She does makeup for a few TV shows and media productions…she even did the makeup for Miss New Hampshire in the Miss America Pageant. And hello? Full body airbrushing for your session? Yes please!

She works in LA and Utah so if you want to book her for your session, let me know right away. She’s usually super busy and booked weeks or months in advance. Oh, and I don’t get any kick-backs for you hiring her so my opinion is not biased. I simply think she’s awesome so if it’s in your budget to hire her — do! you won’t be sorry.:)If hiring Carrie isn’t in the budget, no worries…I’ll still give you tips on how to prepare and how to wear your makeup when you book your session.

Until next time,

KISS – Keep It simple, Sexy!

Not surprisingly I get asked a wide variety of questions from women interested in boudoir sessions. One of the more common questions is if I provide the outfits for the photo sessions. The short answer is I don’t; but don’t let that give you bit of worry because once you book your session with me I’ll send you all kinds of tips on how to prepare for your session! One of those tips is where to shop – and some of the suggestions have super affordable pieces (I’m talking $14 corsets girls!).

Another great thing about choosing Utah Boudoir Photography for your session is that you don’t have to bring 10,000 outfits. Typically there’s enough time for about 3-4 outfit changes within the hour but we can get a lot of fabulous variety with even one panty/bra set! So, don’t be afraid to KISS: Keep It Simple, you Sexy vixen you!

The benefits of a professional makeup artist

Wow, I’m finally coming up for air following the Valentine’s Day rush and it feels great. I was thrilled to see so many beautiful women come through my doors to create unique and flirty gifts for the special someone’s in their lives. I’m going to work to share as many of those sessions with you as I can but I’m already booking into April so it might take me some time to catch up on this backlog, haha!

Anyway, I get asked all the time if Utah Boudoir Photography provides hair and makeup. I like to focus on producing the absolute best images for my clients and I’m most skilled as a photographer so the short answer is no, I don’t provide hair/makeup; however, I do refer my clients to one of the best makeup artists in the nation – Carrie Purser. Carrie is not just a cosmetologist with a makeup kit. She’s the real deal, folks. In fact, she did the makeup for Miss New Hampshire in the Miss America Pageant! She has a ton of experience and knows what kind of makeup to use for photographs so your skin looks flawless. Best of all…. [insert dramatic drumroll here] ……she does full body airbrushing!! [cymbal crash]
If that’s not enough, to top things off she comes to my studio and does your hair and makeup here prior to your session. This is super convenient for you and completely stress free (not to mention it ensures your hair won’t get windblown while traveling).

So to kick things off I’m going to share a session where my client hired Carrie for her boudoir session. Below is a before and after image. Not surprising, my client was thrilled with her images and ordered a gorgeous canvas enlargement!

Valentine’s Day Photo Shoots

Not surprisingly, the responses on the Valentine’s Day Specials have been great! If you missed that post, be sure to click here to get caught up to speed.

I had someone ask me what kinds of sets are available in the specials and since 99% of the shoots featured on the site were done in my humble studio, almost anything you see here is available. And probably a few you don’t see too (anyone brave enough to face the elements and do their shoot in a winter wonder land?!)

Here are some ideas of what you could do in your mini-session.

The first obvious choice would be our bedroom set where the possibilities are endless for flirtation fun!

The next most popular set I’d have to say is our pink seamless paper. The color is just so rich and really pops beautifully (and what says Valentine’s Day more than pink, right?). We can do a lot of fun things with or without my green vintage chair too.

We have a beautiful fireplace…

….and a steamy shower….

….sexy windows and light…

….and we can even do a lot of flirty fun things with the mirror or keep it simple with just showcasing you!

So, I hope that’s helpful to see all the endless possibilities. If you’d like to go ahead and book your mini-session, please send me an email right away as spots are booking up fast. My email is s[at]photographybyshay.com

Also, be sure to “Like” Utah Boudoir Photography’s Facebook page where updates and promotions are frequently posted.
